About Samsong
Samsong is a Nigerian gospel artist and a multi award winner. He has had a successful recording career with radio hits like Bianule, and a handful of accolades. He has had collaborations with Gospel greats like Marvin Winans, Donnie McClurkin and Panam Percy Paul, as well as successful mainstream artists like Donell Jones, Kenny, Latimore, 112, TuFace D’Banj, Faze, and Styl Plus.
Samsong was born on November 30th 1974 in Delta State, Nigeria. He is the 7th child in a family of 9 children.
He studied Accounting, worked in the Central Bank of Nigeria and later worked in Golf Bank. He actually wanted to be the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), that was his dream and he was working towards it but along the line he started feeling like a square perk in a round hole. So he resigned from the bank and plunged into gospel entertainment.
He discovered his talent as a singer in high school where he was nicknamed Samsong. He studied Accounting. He formed a quartet “Praise Creation” in 1991 and in 1996 they released an album “Best of Life”. The group broke up and he became a solo artist releasing his debut album “Count Your Blessings” which was a success as it won him The Psalmist Award that same year.
In 2004 his sophomore album “Still Counting” was released. This album also got him awards -The Best Male Vocalist of the Year Award at Today’s Music Award in 2004, and Best Male Vocalist of The Year Award in 2005 at The Amen Awards.
He released his 3rd album “The World of My Dreams in 2007, It featured a remake of One Love by the music legend Onyeka Onwenu in which he made a duet with her and also a duet with Styl-Plus titled Live Right.
These albums got him the Grace Honorary Award for Excellence.
